Springing Forward

Wake up!

Thanks to the crazy idea that we save power by changing the clocks, we sprang forward this past weekend.  I don't know about you, but spring doesn't describe how I feel about the whole process. I try to get to bed early on the Saturday night when we lose that hour, but it never seems to help.  For one thing, my body doesn't think it's time to sleep, so, I'm wide awake.  I drag around the next day, and often, for several days.

It didn't help this week when I had several earlier than normal mornings. Just something else to add to the fun of confusing my internal clock.  It's now Wednesday, and I'm still tired. I've noticed over the last few years that I struggle with the time change more now than when I was younger.  Anothe
r great benefit of growing older.

Oh, and don't forget the dog.  He knows when he gets up, when he gets fed, when he goes out.  He can't read a clock, but you can tell time by his anxious begging at the appropriate hour.  Except, now he's confused.  What?  You want to feed me? Now? Yippee!  He loves this change, but just wait until we fall back.  Then he'll be anxiously begging an hour too soon.  Poor puppy.  At least I know why it's different, even if I don't like it.

There is a silver lining, thank goodness.  I love the long daylight evenings. Once I adjust to the new time, that is.

What about you? Do you love the time change or hate it?

I heard that someone who was asked what they thought about daylight savings time replied, "I think it's a good thing for the plants to have an extra hour of sunshine." Oh my.
Heehee! Mike, I love it! Bless that person's little heart.

I'm like you, Barbara. I like DST...AFTER I get used to it! How could we always feel drained from the hour we lose, but never feel invigorated by the one we gain? :-/

DST makes it 3 hours difference between here and Arizona where my son lives, and that much harder to connect by telephone. Then again, I enjoy the extra daylight hours in the evening.
Vonda, I know! You'd think we'd feel better we gain an extra hour in the fall, but nope.

Bob, I understand the struggle of the 3 hour difference. My daughter lives in LA where it's always a 3 hour time difference. I usually think about calling her when it's too early there.

The first day I always notice it, but beyond that, I don't have much trouble with it. Of course, I'm usually living in Valerie-La-La-Land, and time doesn't matter so much in there!
I wonder if my GPS can find Valerie-La-La-Land.
I'm good with the change now that I'm not working outside the house. It's so much easier to get used to it that way.
Carole, I have just one word for you: Braggart!
